Welcome to the Audio Network. This message was posted on Monday the 12th June.

Over the last few weeks we have been battling hard against malicious attacks from hackers, and have had to remove enormous amounts of what is called "phishing" material.

These hackers have been performing what is called a "SQL injection" and a "Remote File Inclusion", which basically means that they send malicious code through a web form, which allows them access into your account through something called a web shell. Once inside, they can change anything they like, add anything they like, in fact, do anything they like. What they have been doing is adding files that look like a bank or paypal or something similar, then sending people emails to asking for user name and password information.

The Audio network, over the last ten years, has grown huge, in terms of content and following, but also in terms of the amount of files and directories that are on the server. There were over 18,000 files relating to the Audio Network, graphics, web pages, audio files, javascript files, etc etc.

I have spent the last weekend literally scouring the 30 other web domains we look after in the same web host, removing all malicious content, and filling up the supposed "loop holes" they are getting through. But just one file missed, means that everything must be cleaned manually again, and there is no way I could manually clean the Audio Network before the hackers added new malicious files behind me as I went.

So, we took the decision to take down the site, and completely wiped it off the server. We have not lost any files - they are safely on my computer here, btu they will have to be gone through item by item to make sure that they are not malicious, before we can put it back online.

It is a mammoth task, and could take a few weeks, but the Audio Network is not dead, it will be back better than ever, and we thank you for your patience.
