C Different - click on the image to visit the web site

The C Different Foundation was founded to inspire visually impaired people around the world to lead active and healthy lives.  By connecting them with sighted guides and involving communities to support their endeavors we achieve this.  Additionally, CDF seeks to inspire and educate others through the telling of the stories and circumstances of our athletes and their guides.

The C Different Foundation works to create opportunity for visually impaired athletes to participate in athletic events. CDF also seeks out other types of opportunities for our athletes to share their message. We promote total integration -  not separateness - for blind and visually impaired athletes for the benefit of society in all countries worldwide. The C Different Athletes receive no support from federal, state, or local governments. Support is derived from volunteer and staff fund-raising efforts, which are supported by corporations, small businesses, charitable foundations and concerned individuals

FIFH Malmo - click on the image to visit the web site

Malmö Open first began in 1977 as a table tennis competition, with 25 competitors. Kurt Linde, Robert Johansson, Sven Hansson and Göran Wilson, those who initiated the first Malmö Open, had no idea what an impact it would be for sports for disabled in Sweden, most of Europe and parts of the world.

The competitors were few, up until 1979, however as the former president Kurt Linde expanded the competition and number of events, the general interest for Malmö Open grew rapidly. Soon there were over 1000 competitors each year.

In 1986 there were 1235 participants in 7 different events.

In 1995 there were 1518 participants in 10 different events.

In 2002 there were 1730 participants in 13 different events.

In 2004 there were 1840 participants in 13 different events.

In 2007 there were 2140 participants in 14 different events.

The purpose of Malmö Open:

Malmö Open has been particularly important to young athletes throughout the years. There have been no requirement regarding licence so young athletes have had the opportunity to participate and measure up.

International competitors

There have been many foreign competitors throughout the years in Malmö Open. The invitation is sent to over 700 different clubs in countries all over the world every year. We are in constant search of new athletes to expand our competition.

The Association & Officials

FIFH, Föreningen idrott för handikappade, is one of Sweden’s largest and oldest sport associations for disabled athletes. FIFH was founded in 1956 and consist today of over 800 members, participating in 36 different sports and other activities each week.

FIFH:s goal is to create opportunities for individuals with a disability to participate physically and socially in healthy activities. It is equally important to meet and socialise with friends at times other than only during competitions. Our goal is to break the isolation, which can arise for individuals with disabilities. FIFH also welcomes, non-handicapped athletes in those sports where it is possible, the main goal is to exercise and compete on equal terms. We don’t compete in disabilities. We compete in sports.

Each year FIFH gathers all our members, as well as friends and acquaintances to act as competitors or officials in order to successfully arrange such a spectacular sport event as Malmö Open. Besides our own members there are many other organisations from Malmö who voluntarily offer their help

Mulhern Designs - click on the image to visit the web site

Mulhern Designs is a new webdesign and graphic art business.

I specialize in web programming. My business purpose is to create a Web Development Company, providing custom web site design, full-featured E-commerce sites, and professional web development services. As I am Visually Impaired myself, I want to use my programming skills to make websites more accessible to the blind. My ultimate goal is Internet Accessibility, not only through my designs, but also through consulting with other web programmers. Most of my designs I try to hand code in a text editor, which enables me to manipulate the accessibility issues.

Websites are often the first and only way to make an impression on your users. If your website is out of date and no longer working the way you need it to, then website redesign is the answer. Websites need continuous refinement and improvement. Just browse around the Internet for a few seconds and you will discover numerous websites that look old and are not accessible to visually impaired users.

Developers of the first accessible GPS and talking map software. GPS products "Powered by Sendero" software provide access to detailed street and business location information. The blind traveler can now be a co-pilot, not just a passive passenger in a car. He or she can keep the taxi driver honest, enjoy hearing about the sites and businesses being passed and know independently when to get off the bus. Students can also chart custom routes across campus or hikers can do the same in the woods.

Sendero staff, most of whom are visually impaired, know from personal and professional experience that orientation and mobility skills and tools for blind folks are key to enjoyment and success in all walks of life.

In addition to Sendero's GPS line of products, we distribute the mPower, PK, VoiceSense, Braille Sense Plus, VictorReader Stream, KNFB Mobile Reader, Mobile Speak, TALKS cell phone software, Miniguide and i.d. Mate OMNI.
